What is Driveway Sealing?

When your driveway starts to change from a rich black colour to dull grey it is losing the liquid component that helps bind the aggregates together. It is at this time your driveway becomes susceptible to heaving, cracking and further deterioration.

Having your driveway sealed with a commercial grade tar-based asphalt sealer helps restore the driveway to its original condition, preventing further cracking and deterioration. You will also notice and improved visual appearance to your driveway after having it professionally sealed.

Our Process

Your driveway is cleaned of all dirt and debris. We use both commercial grade brooms and gas-powered backpack blowers are used to remove all materials from the asphalt. The surface needs to be completely clean in order for the sealant to cure properly.

The entire perimeter of the driveway is masked using commercial quality painters tape. This ensures that there is absolutely no over-spray when applying the sealant. If it is safe to do so, the tape will be removed after the sealing job is completed.

The commercial grade tar-based sealant is applied to your asphalt driveway. It is done in a manor that will not leave any streak marks when fully cured. The product we use is sourced from Coco Paving, the same company that completes major highway and roadworks.

Once the sealing process is completed, a barrier is placed at the end of your driveway to prohibit vehicle and pedestrian traffic alike. We recommend 6-7 hours of cure time for foot traffic and 24 hours of cure time for vehicle traffic. We will also inspect the completed job with you to ensure you are satisfied with the results.

Benefits of Driveway Sealing

Increased Curb Appeal

Having your driveway sealed will bring back that matt black finish it had when it was freshly paved. This will inherently enhance the visual appeal of your property.

Prolonged Lifespan

Resealing your driveway rehydrates the asphalt with tar. This tar helps keep the aggregates together and prevents cracking. Routinely sealing your driveway will prolong the lifespan of the asphalt by keeping it protected and flexible.

Reduced Maintenance Cost

Having your driveway sealed every two years prevents untimely deterioration which would lead to a repaving project. Routinely planned sealing applications are relatively inexpensive when compared to the cost of patching and repaving your driveway.
