The best method to address asphalt cracks it to have them routed and then sealed with a hot rubber crack sealant. Once the crack is sealed it can no longer expand, or be penetrated by water.
Why Asphalt Cracks should be Routed Before Sealed?
The process of routing entails using specialized machinery to enlarge the crevice of the crack. This allows the entirety of the crack to be exposed as well as creating a large enough reservoir to ensure an adequate amount of rubber is applied. Once the crack has been routed and cleaned of all loose debris, it is then sealed using the hot liquified rubber sealant.
If the crack is not routed prior to sealing, the liquified rubber is not able to penetrate the crack properly. Much of the crack below the surface will be left unsealed and the crack will re-open, defeating the purpose of having it sealed in the first place. In order for a crack to be properly sealed, it must be routed beforehand.

The eligible cracks for rout and seal are determined during a site walkthrough prior to the service date. Our asphalt technicians arrive on-site on a pre determined date. The asphalt cracks are first routed. We ensure no traffic or parked vehicles in the designated parking work area to ensure the safety of both the property of those on-site as well as our staff. Once the cracks have been routed, a high powered blower is used to clear the debris from inside the crack. The crevis must be entirely cleared of all debris to ensure the sealant bonds to the asphalt.
